ETC! 2025 has ended
Saturday February 22, 2025 1:30pm - 2:45pm PST
This is an introduction to Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) collection techniques that can be done from a web browser on a laptop or smartphone.  Attendees will learn about and use these techniques to find information about current news events, but beyond what the mass media provides.  Advanced Google searches, jail and prison inmate searches, legal document searches, various map websites, airplane tracker sites, ship tracker sites, the wayback machine, and more will be covered. Popular YouTube training videos, podcasts, and available textbooks on the subject will be reviewed in case students want to pursue more.  Real-life examples will be provided that attendees can search for in the presentation with their devices.
